プライバシーポリシー
Last updated: 14 August 2026. This policy is also our Personal Information Collection Statement (PICS) under the PDPO.
1. Who we are
The data user is lawclear.ai, operated by 法通(香港)有限公司. The platform is an AI-assisted matching platform, built to connect members of the public with qualified legal professionals in Hong Kong. We handle all personal data strictly in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (the "PDPO"). For privacy enquiries, please email privacy@lawclear.ai.
2. What we collect
Account data: your name, email address, WhatsApp phone number and language preference. Everyone applying to become a member must provide proof of professional qualification recognised by the Law Society of Hong Kong or the Hong Kong Bar Association, so that it can be verified.
Case data: the legal matter you describe by voice or text, the documents you upload, and the messages you exchange within the platform.
One-time codes: the verification codes the platform sends to your WhatsApp or email, used to confirm your contact details and to sign you in.
Technical data: locally stored sign-in state, language choice and consent markers (used only for consent auditing); and, when you accept a notice, the IP address, browser information and evidence of reading/scrolling behaviour recorded at that time. If you accept the storage notice, one analytics cookie measures visits; the platform uses no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies either way. See the Cookie Policy for details.
Payment data: card details are entered into and held directly by the platform’s payment processor (Stripe). The platform stores only a customer reference number and never stores card numbers.
3. How and why we use it
The platform uses AI to analyse your matter, match you with a suitable legal professional, and support private messaging, enquiries and document drafting. We also send sign-in codes and service notices, verify member qualifications through the two professional bodies named above, process membership fees, and keep the operation lawful and compliant (including keeping consent audit records).
4. One-time-code sign-in, WhatsApp and email
The platform sends verification codes and service messages to you through WhatsApp and email service providers. You can choose to turn these on, and you may opt out of non-essential messages (such as promotions or optional updates) at any time.
5. AI processing
The voice, text and documents you submit are processed by third-party AI service providers, covering language models, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, document reading and text vectorisation. That processing is used only to provide the relevant features and is bound by confidentiality agreements. Before you are matched with a member, the summary you described has already been anonymised; the details you filled in are visible to a member only once that member unlocks your case, or once you contact them yourself. AI output is "legal information" only, never "legal advice".
6. Who we share it with
Case data is shared when a member unlocks the case you described, or when you contact a member yourself. In addition, our service providers (by category: AI and voice providers, WhatsApp and email providers, the payment processor, and cloud hosting providers) receive only the data necessary to provide their service. The platform never sells any personal data.
7. Processing outside Hong Kong
The platform is a Hong Kong company regulated by the PDPO. However, our cloud hosting and some service providers are located outside Hong Kong (for example in the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union), so your data may be processed in those places. Wherever it is processed, we protect it under the PDPO and through contractual safeguards. Using the platform means you agree to these cross-border processing arrangements.
8. Storage, retention and deletion
Your data on the platform (including uploaded documents) is stored in our secure database. You may email privacy@lawclear.ai at any time to request deletion of your account and personal data. Please note that even after an account is deleted, your consent records are retained as a permanent and unalterable legal audit record.
9. Security
We use Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption, role-based access controls and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect any unauthorised access, please email privacy@lawclear.ai immediately.
10. Cookies and local storage
We use strictly necessary local storage only (for example sign-in state and language preference). For a detailed explanation of the various categories of cookie, please see our Cookie Policy (available in the site footer, or by emailing us for a copy).
11. Your rights under the PDPO
You may email privacy@lawclear.ai to request access to and correction of your personal data, or to make a deletion request, and to opt out of non-essential communications. We will respond within the 40 days allowed under the Ordinance.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above shows the current version. For any privacy enquiry or request, please contact 法通(香港)有限公司 at privacy@lawclear.ai.
