Lawclear is a technology matching platform, not a law firm. We connect users who need legal help with verified Hong Kong legal professionals. We only match — we never provide any legal advice.
What does it cost?
Clients (users): reporting a case, matching, and communicating with a legal professional through the platform are completely free. Legal professionals (members): once verified and accepted, they pay a membership fee, which covers the platform’s operating, software and marketing costs. The platform takes no commission or rebate from any fee agreed between a user and a legal professional.
Who are the members?
There are three kinds: legal assistants (commonly called 師爺 — legal clerks or assistants), solicitors and barristers. Before anyone becomes a member, the platform verifies their professional credentials with the Law Society of Hong Kong or the Hong Kong Bar Association.
What happens after I report my case?
The process is: (1) the platform matches your case with suitable legal professionals; (2) you can choose among several candidates and have an initial private conversation on the platform — your contact details remain hidden at this stage; (3) once you have a clearer picture, you decide which professional to go with and authorise the platform to release your contact details; (4) what follows is arranged directly between you and that professional, and every record stays in your account.
How does Lawclear make money?
The platform never charges an introduction fee between a user and a legal professional, and takes no cut of any fee. Our only source of income is the membership fee paid by the legal professionals we have verified.
What languages are supported?
Communication on the platform supports both text and voice messages, in Cantonese, Mandarin, English and Japanese. You can type in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese or English.
Is my information private?
Absolutely. Your contact details are not disclosed until you decide to connect with the professional concerned. We handle all personal data strictly under Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486).
